Presentation Purpose: AI is being explored in psychiatry to support clinical decision-making. However, in high-stakes settings like healthcare, AI is intended to assist clinicians rather than replace them, forming a 'clinician-AI team' where clinicians retain responsibility for decisions. Despite this collaborative focus, much research has prioritized optimizing AI performance. This symposium describes interdisciplinary methods studying how to effectively integrate AI systems into clinical workflows.

Presentation Title: CAMH Engage Breakthrough Challenge 2021 - Gillian Strudwick
Presentation Overview: This year’s CAMH Engage Breakthrough Challenge winner was Dr. Gillian Strudwick, Scientist and former Interim Chief Nursing Executive at CAMH. She is also an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, teaching in the Master of Health Informatics program, and supervising doctoral and master’s thesis students. Dr. Strudwick was awarded the grant for her research that improves the uptake and experience of using digital technologies within primarily mental health contexts to obtain greater benefits. She achieves this by using approaches from implementation science, design thinking and engaging with clinicians, patients and caregivers

Presentation Overview: Safety planning through smartphone apps are a feasible strategy to due to their accessibility, but the integration of mental health apps into patient and nursing/ clinical workflows remains a largely unexplored area of practice. We will present on one such smartphone app, Hope By CAMH within this presentation.
